VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh reported 117 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking the cumulative caseload to 8,89,916. This is the second consecutive day for the state to record more than 100 cases.
The state has not registered any deaths from the novel coronavirus disease for the second straight day. Altogether, 66 patients have been declared cured. There are currently 718 active cases with the 8,82,029 cumulative recoveries and 7,169 fatalities.
Chittoor district, which shares the border with Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, recorded 41 new cases on Sunday, followed by Guntur (17), Krishna (11) and Srikakulam (10). The remaining districts posted single-digit case numbers.
The vaccination programme for the senior citizens and people with comorbidities (45-59 age group) would begin on March 1, Monday.
The government vaccination centres will offer free vaccination, while the private hospitals can charge a maximum of Rs 250 per each dose.
