HYDERABAD: Two friends, both of whom deaf and dumb, committed suicide by setting themselves ablaze in Haliya in Nalgonda district in the wee hours of Thursday. Before committing suicide they shared a selfie video to their friends, on a whatsapp group.
Haliya police that Sheikh Mastanvali,27, and N Ashwini,20, both were colleagues in a logistic company in Hyderabad. Mastanvali and Ashwini went missing since Monday.
Ashwini, who is a native of Nizamabad district has been residing in a room at Mehdipatnam, and Mastanvali who is native of Guntur district, he too has been residing in a different room in Mehadipatnam.
Officials said that after Ashwini’s family members came to know the she is missing, they lodged a missing complaint in Humayun Nagar. During the investigation, police came to know that her colleague Mastanvali is also missing.
They both by keeping their mobile phones switched off, visited Nagarjunasagar and other surrounding areas using a bike. On Wednesday night, they turned one of their mobile phones on and recorded a selfie video, in a sign language. They shared it to their friends on a Whatsapp group, and its members are also deaf and dumb. In the message they said that no one is responsible for their death and they both are committing suicide for their respective individual problems. When their friends tried to reach them, they became inaccessible. Around 2.30am on Thursday, the two friends shared their location on Whatsapp.
“Using the location already shared on Whatsapp, some of the members in that group hired a cab and reached Haliya in Nalgonda district. They found two burnt bodies. They informed the local police and we reached the spot,’’ Haliya sub-inspector Shiva Kumar told TOI.
According to police, they found petrol bottles from the location and two college bags, in which police recovered two notes one mentioning the names and other particulars of both the deceased. In another note, without mentioning the reason, they informed that they were committing suicide.
Mastanvali is already married and other deceased is unmarried. Police informed their respective family and a case was registered under section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC.
