Amaravati: On Friday night, Miscreants made off with Rs 85 lakhs from theState Bank of India Nadikudi branch in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

They ensured that all important clues were destroyed. They wore gloves to conceal fingerprints and sprayed chilly powder on the path they walked on so that sniffer dogs can’t trace their footprints. They began their work after disconnecting the CCTV wires.

The offenders broke open the door using gas cutters. The bank staff noticed the door open when they came in the morning. They informed their manager, who lodged a complaint with the Dachepalli police.

“The thieves took Rs 85 lakhs cash from the strongroom. They did not touch the lockers and other things,” Guntur district rural superintendent of police Vishal Gunni said after inspecting the bank.

Four police teams have been formed to hunt for the culprits. The police also questioned the bank staff.
