GUNTUR: As a mark of tribute to his teacher, an army medical officer in the rank of captain, wrote a letter to his teacher at medical college on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on Saturday.
The letter is addressed to Dr NV Sundarachary, the chief of neurology department at Government Medical College (GMC) in Guntur.
In his letter, the officer (we are witholding his name due to security reasons) said he was proud to tell the world that he is leading a good life with wonderful career by following the path shown by Dr Sundarachary.

The officer, currently posted in Ladakh, hails from Vijayawada and had studied in GMC under the guidance of Dr Sundarachary. “I was immensely inspired by you. I learned the skills under your guidance,” said the army captain.
In his letter, the army officer further says that he still remembers the first earning of his career that came due to the blessings of the doctor couple.
“As said, a newborn gets the best nutrition from the mother’s milk, I also got the first and last grooming as doctor only by sitting next you sir,” the letter reads
The young army officer said that he was strongly following the lessons taught by Dr Sundarachary during his days at GMC between 2008-2013 as student of medicine and 2014-16 as student of post-graduation in neurology.
“You asked me to never run after money, but behind the excellence; be human, keep moral values and follow ethics. I am proud to say that I am your sishya in following your scriptures,” said the army captain cum medical officer.
The army medical officer expressed his gratitude for making a short-tempered boy from middle class family like him into a responsible and respected citizen of the country.
“I choose a career where I can get money, respect and responsibility in equal proportions without bowing before the illiterate corporate people sir,” he explained.
While concluding his letter, the army officer invited Dr Sundarachary to visit his place of work next summer.
