“The remaining 56 people are being traced. Out of the 1,158 returnees, six tested positive in RT-PCR tests. Their samples have been sent to National Institute of Virology in Pune, and Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB) in Hyderabad for genomic analysis to determine whether the disease is caused by the new or existing strain. The reports are yet to be received. As many as 1,101 returnees are in quarantine,” said K Bhaskar, commissioner of health and family welfare.
