GUNTUR: In a novel idea to make the little kids joyful on the festival day, Guntur Round Table (GRT-86) has donated toys and baby cradles to the childcare centre managed by the women and child welfare department. The executives of GRT-86 visited the centre on Saturday and gifted the toys and toffees to the kids.
“It is a privilege to visit the centre to gift the toys to the infants and see their cheerful faces on the festival day,” said senior IAS officer and tobacco board secretary, Addanki Sridhar Babu. He congratulated the GRT team for choosing to help the children at the government centre as all the infants and kids brought up at the centre are orphans.
GRT-86 chairman Lanka Kranti Sekhar said that this festival was something special for all of them as the joy of the kinds have filled their hearts. He said that they have been taking up several projects particularly to help the children. He said that they have launched construction of toilets in public schools and donated furniture to the government schools. He said that their members were keen on helping the children from under-privileged sections. He complimented the members who donated the kits to the child care centre. GRT vice-chairman Ram Kumar said that they have been celebrating the festivals with children in orphanages and social welfare hostels to make them confident and equal in the society. GRT secretary Surendra Sriram was also present.
