Hyderabad: An Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre allegedly ended his life by jumping from his residence in a multi-storied building at Nagole here on Thursday.
The officer, identified as V Bhaskara Ramana Murthy, (59), a 1987 batch officer, was working as the Principal Chief Conservative Officer with the AP Forest Department.
According to the police, Murthy, who was currently posted in Guntur district, was residing in an apartment at Rajiv Gruhakalpa in Nagole along with his wife. He used to travel between Guntur and Hyderabad. It was found that he came home a few days ago and was staying with his family. Around 4 am on Thursday, Murthy is suspected to have jumped from the fifth floor of the building. Security personnel of the apartment, who found Murthy lying in a pool of blood, alerted the apartment association and the LB Nagar police, who registered a case and are investigating.
Though it is said that Murthy was visibly upset for the last few days, the police are yet to ascertain the actual reason for the suicide.
The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
