VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test results are out on Saturday and despite COVID pandemic, the state saw a significant spike in pass percentage by 13% this year compared to 2019. Addressing the press conference, state education minister Adimulapu Suresh announced the results and stated that the exams were conducted taking all the COVID precautions. “We don’t have medicine here, since it’s traditionally called EAMCET we have continued it as such. From next year onwards we shall divide new name for this common entrance test,” the education minister mentioned prior to the briefing of the results.

In engineering stream, 133,067 students qualified the EAMCET keeping the pass percentage at 84.78% which is much more compared to 2019’s pass percentage which stood at 71.61%. Yet again, boys outshine girls in the engineering stream where 79,039 boys and 54,036 girls qualified in the engineering stream. In terms of agriculture stream, the pass percentage stands at 91.77%.

Out of the 75,858 students who appeared for agriculture stream, 22,420 out of 24,625 boys qualified the exam while 47,196 out of 51,223 girls passed the exam. JNTUK Convenor Vipparti Ravindra briefed that test centres were changed for around 15,000 based on their request at their respective places. Students who appeared for the test were 1.56 lakh in engineering stream (84.4% attendance percentage) while 75,858 students appeared for agriculture stream (84.56%).

Ravindra also explained that for 97 students took re-examination due to COVID infections and that they were conducted for them separately in 14 centres across 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “In the long history of Eamcet, the whole process of organising it has never dragged on this much till September,” Suresh added. Amongst the toppers, V Sainath from Vizag ranked first in engineering stream. G Chaitanya Sindhu from Tenali town in Guntur district topped the agriculture stream. Around five toppers in engineering stream happen to be from Hyderabad, Telangana.
