Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police arrested a couple involved in several house burglaries at Khanapur Gate in Ibrahimpatnam here on Tuesday. The husband and wife were allegedly involved in 17 cases in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, police said. Gold and other valuables, all together worth Rs 16 lakh, was seized from them.

The couple identified as, K Ravi Kumar (25) and M Geetanjali (21), were residents of Kondapur and the natives of Narsraopeta in Guntur district. Police said Ravi Kumar was previously arrested for thefts in Narsraopeta, Piduguralla, Singarayakonda and Nekarikallu of Andhra Pradesh. He used to move around with his wife on stolen motorbikes and identify locked houses, which they broke into in the night. Ravi Kumar was arrested last year as well by the Nekarikallu police in Guntur and was released from the Ongole jail in September.

The couple, after committing several offences in Rachakonda, had purchased land and were constructing a house, officials said.
