AMARAVATI: Former minister and Telugu Desam legislature party deputy leader in the assembly, K Atchannaidu has been appointed as TDP AP unit president. Atchannaidu will replace another former minister from Srikakulam district, Kala Venkata Rao. TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu on Monday reconstituted the state units of AP, Telangana, central committee and the highest decision making unit-politburo.
Curiously, Atchannaidu has been capped with the state unit president post after he was booked in the multi-crore ESI scandal. He was arrested and sent to prison by the anti-corruption bureau. Soon after the arrest, Atchannaidu was shifted to Government General Hospital (GGH), Guntur as he was suffering from severe bleeding. TDP raised strong protest about the timing of the arrest as he underwent a surgery for hemorrhoids just couple of days before the arrest. A week after the admission to GGH, he was discharged and sent to the judicial remand. However, high court asked the state government shift him to a private hospital for providing treatment. Subsequently, he was tested positive for covid-19 and recovered. He reached home after HC granting him bail in the ESI scandal.
TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu picked Atchannaidu as state unit president keeping in view of his fighting abilities to take on the ruling YSRC. Guntur MP Galla Jayadev has been taken into TDP politburo to replace the vacancy created by his mother and former minister Galla Aruna Kumari. Curiously, Aruna Kumari has been taken into central committee.
Naidu named 25-member politburo and 27 member central committee. Former MLA from Jaggaiahpet, Sriram Tataiah (Rajagopal) has been appointed as party treasurer, the post held by former minister Sidda Raghavarao before he switched sides to YSRC recently.
