VISAKHAPATNAM: The Covid-19 positive tally in Andhra Pradesh increased to 8,35,953 with the addition of 2,745 cases on Thursday, while the toll rose to 6,757 with 13 more people succumbing to the pandemic virus.
On the positive note, the overall infection positivity rate has dropped to 9.92.
The latest Covid-19 bulletin said 2,292 patients recovered from the virus on Thursday. This pushes up the total recoveries to 8,07,318. Now, there are only 21,878 active Covid-19 cases in the state. As many as 85,364 samples were tested on Thursday and of these, 2,745 samples returned as positive.
After 84,27,629 sample tests, the overall infection positivity rate stood at 9.92 per cent but AP now boasts of a recovery rate of 96.57 per cent, the highest in the country.
West Godavari district has reported the highest number of 428 new cases in a day. East Godavari district added 407 cases, Krishna 398, Guntur 297 Chittoor 286 and Anantapur district added 218 new cases on Thursday.
Nellore, Kadapa, Prakasam and Visakhapatnam districts added 130, 125, 124 and 120 cases respectively. The remaining three districts in the state have reported below 100 cases. Nellore district crossed 60,000 cases on Thursday.
Krishna districted accounted for three deaths while Chittoor and Visakhapatnam saw two fresh Covid-19 fatalities each. Anantapur, East Godavari, Guntur, Prakasam, Srikakulam and West Godavari districts reported one death each.
