GUNTUR: Strongly denouncing the allegations of clubbing the electricity bills of March and April, Central Power Distribution Company Limited (CPDCL) chief managing director Padma Janardhana Reddy has said that the billing has been raised only after segregation of total reading for two months and there is no truth that the bill is being raised for both the months together leading to collection of high amount of charges. He said that the people were only raising queries due to the apprehensions. He said that all their field officers would be available to the consumers on their mobile numbers to clear their apprehensions about the bill mode.
Janardhan Reddy inaugurated a dedicated helpline counter in Guntur on Monday, where the staff have been deployed to clear the apprehensions of consumers. He asked the officials to address the grievances of each and every consumer, who reach out them with complaints. Reddy held a review meeting with the officials in the superintending engineer (SE) office and directed them not to allow any consumer to suffer. He said that bills amounts have drastically gone up during March and April as people were confined to indoors due to lockout which led to the increase in the consumption.
He said that people have been asked to pay the March bill on the basis of February bill as their field staff could not visit the houses due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that they have also assured the consumers that they would collect only balance amount when the actual reading of the electricity meter is scanned. “For instance, if the total reading is 300 units for both March and April, bill for March is computed for 150 units on the basis of old tariff (2019-20) and April bill is raised for the remaining 150 units based on the new tariff of 2020-21. We are also deducting the assumptive charges paid by the consumers towards March bill and collecting only balance amount,” clarified Janardhana Reddy. He said that there is no truth in the allegations that they were computing the bill for the total 300 units at once and splitting into two parts to decide the March and April bills. He said that such computation would alter the slabs and result in higher charges. He asked people to reach out to helpline numbers at 0863-2236300, 2236500, 2242402 and whatsapp number- 8498890946. Superintending engineer (Guntur circle) Vijay Kumar, superintending engineer (CRDA circle) Muralikrishna Yadav were also present in the review meeting.
