VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh reported its highest single day spike of 491 Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the cumulative tally to 8,452. Five more deaths were registered increasing the Covid-19 toll in the state to 101.
Krishna and Kurnool districts reported two deaths each while Guntur registered one. As many as 206 people were declared cured of the pandemic virus on Saturday. There are currently 4,240 active cases in the state with 4,111 recoveries and 101 deaths.
The cumulative caseload among the foreign returnees and people who returned from other states stood at 1,832. The state tested nearly 22,371 samples between 9 am on Friday and 9 am on Saturday, the highest number of tests on a day so far.
The state so far screened nearly 6.52 lakh people. The health department released the districtwise case data on Saturday after a gap of nearly a month. Of the 101 deaths, Krishna and Kurnool districts recorded the highest number of covid-19 casualties with 33 covid-19 deaths each.
Eleven persons succumbed to the pandemic in Guntur district. Kadapa, Vizianagaram and West Godavari have not witnessed any deaths.
