GUNTUR: In a goodwill gesture, the executives of Guntur Round Table (GRT-86) distributed wheat flour to the poor muslims in Gujjanagundla area to celebrate the coming Bakrid festival.
The GRT chairman Kranti Sekhar Lanka led the programme held with the support of noted FMCG firm Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL) on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Kranti Sekhar said that supporting the needy people have always brought them utmost satisfaction. “We thought of taking up this programme particularly in the wake of several thousands of poor Muslims struggling to manage their financials due to the Covid-19 as majority of them were daily wagers. This small gesture will help them celebrate festival,” said Kranti. He said that about 6180 kgs of Annapurna Atta worth Rs.3.09 lakh was distributed to the locals.
Kranti said that the GRT-86 was taking several programmes including charity and developmental works in the district with the support of members and philanthropists. He said that they have also extended similar support to the Kanakadurga lorry transport drivers and seva bharathi organization. The representatives of Guggagundla Muslim Assosiation thanked the GRT executives for their support to the poor muslims. GRT area-9 chairman elect Ashish Kumar Sonthalia, GRT-86 members Surendra Sriram and Prasanth were also present.
