VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh reported 7,073 Covid-19 cases on Friday, taking the cumulative caseload to 6,61,458, while the toll jumped to 5,606 with 48 more persons dying from Covid-19.
Altogether, 8,695 patients were declared cured on Friday, even as 67,683 persons continue to receive medical treatment in hospitals and at home.
Authorities reported 5,88,169 cumulative recoveries, translating to a recovery rate of 89%.
The recovery rate was over 95% in Anantapur, Kurnool and Nellore districts. Prakasam has the lowest recovery rate of 77%. Nellore crossed the 50,000 Covid-19 case mark on Wednesday with 459 fresh cases.
East Godavari and West Godavari posted the highest and the second highest case numbers to the table on Friday with 1,031 and 931 new cases respectively. Eight districts recorded fewer than 500 cases, while Kurnool reported the lowest number of infections of 205.
Seven districts have the cumulative caseload of at least 50,000 infections with East Godavari leading the table with 92,173 confirmed cases.
Of the deaths reported on Friday, eight each are from Chittoor and Prakasam, six from Anantapur, five each from Krishna and West Godavari, three each from Kadapa, Nellore and Visakhapatnam, two each from East Godavari, Kurnool and Guntur, and one from Srikakulam.
Chittoor alone contributed 625 Covid-19 deaths till date, the highest among all districts, followed by Guntur 511 and East Godavari 503.
Andhra Pradesh so far tested 54.47 lakh samples for Covid-19, including the 69,429 people tested for the pandemic virus on Friday. The overall case positivity rate stood at 12.1%. The mortality rate came down to 0.84%.
