Guntur: In a shocking incident reported from Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour, who was known to her ‘husband’. Traumatised by what happened to her, the victim decided to go to her friend’s house in a nearby village instead of going to her mother’s place.
On the way to her friend’s place in the night, a home guard on a motorcycle saw the victim on the road and offered help showing his identity card. The home guard identified as Ashok Chakravarthy told the girl that he is a police officer.
According to a report in The News Minute, instead of helping the girl, the accused home guard took her to his friend Durga Rao’s house and confined her for nearly 20 days and sexually assaulted her.
The Tenali police have now arrested the three men including her neighbour Naveen and home guard Ashok for raping the girl. The girl was traced at Durga Rao’s house on Thursday after her mother filed a missing person’s complaint.
“The minor girl was married last year. She had been residing with her mother in Muttemsetti Palem village of Tenali mandal. The man she was ‘married’ to lives in Bapatla. The man’s neighbour, Karlapalem Naveen Kumar, was acquainted with the girl. On July 26, Naveen took the girl on his bike to some fields near Moparru village and raped her. He then dropped her off at the Vykuntapuram Temple at around 11 pm in Tenali. The victim was afraid to go back to her mother and hence decided to go to her friend’s house in Perecherla village,” the report quoted M Rajesh, Tenali One Town Circle Inspector.
Four days after the abduction, the home guard and his friend moved the girl to another place and continued to rape the girl during the confinement period. Police said the girl’s mother delayed filing the missing complaint as the girl left home for a brief period in the past.
However, when the girl’s mother didn’t hear from her for over two weeks, she filed a missing complaint. Police have booked the accused under relevant Section 366 (abduction) and Section 376 (2)(a) (being a police officer commits rape) as well as under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences POCSO Act.
