GUNTUR: Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) has roped in a private agency to create awareness through digital campaign about the coronavirus among the public in the city. The agency, IMPACT is providing entire service without charging anything to the GMC. The Impact is operating LED screen enabled vehicles in different colonies to spread the awareness about safety measures including maintaining the social distancing to prevent the spread of the disease.
They are screening recorded speeches of prime minister Narendra Modi, chief minister YS Jagan, district collector Samuel Anand Kumar and GMC Commissioner Anuradha and also messages of film stars and sports personalities during the street visits. “We are keeping the vehicles in market places where more people are gathered. We are trying to create awareness among the public as social distancing is one key issue to break the virus chain,” the Impact founder Dr NR Dara. He said that their LED display vehicles would roam around the city till the completion of the lockdown. He said that they were also spreading awareness about stigmatization due to covid-19. He said that the vehicles were moving into inner lanes and spreading the messages between 7am-12pm and 4pm-9pm.
GMC commissioner Anuradha said that lack of awareness about several issues of covid-19 is the main reason for spread of virus across the globe. She said that they could contain the spread of virus through better awareness and understanding among the public.
