GUNTUR: Eight doctors and two nurses at Government General Hospital (GGH), Guntur, who handled the delivery of a Covid positive woman, have been sent to home quarantine on Thursday.
The woman was shifted to isolation in Covid hospital and her family members were shifted to a quarantine facility. The authorities have also decided to take the swab samples of the infant for screening as a precautionary measure.
According to information, about eight doctors, including two gynaecologists, two surgeons, one anaesthetist and three PG doctors were sent to home quarantine. As many as two nurses and at least three other paramedical staff performed the c-section on the pregnant woman.
Sources said that the woman, a resident of Guntur city, was admitted to the GGH for delivery on June, 6. Immediately, the doctors sent her swab samples for the screening of Covid-19. However, the doctors decided to go for c-section on the next day after making an assessment of the health condition of the pregnant woman. Both woman and baby were safe after the surgery. The hospital authorities discharged her from the hospital on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the test result of the woman which came out positive for Covid-19 created ripples in the GGH. Immediately, the hospital authorities asked the doctors and paramedical staff to remain in home quarantine for one week. The swab samples of the staff attended the duties on the day of surgery were also sent for examination.
