GMC commissioner C Anuradha deployed additional teams to test and trace high-risk category people. The measures started yielding results within a few days as seen in the steep drop in positive cases by the second week of August. “We will continue tracing and testing vulnerable people with the support of ward secretariat staff. We are physically testing the oxygen levels of all those above 60 years with oxymeters even before screening them for Covid-19,” the commissioner said.
The commissioner held a special review meeting with nodal officers on Sunday and directed them to continue screening vulnerable people and upload the data to a mobile app developed to track health details. “The people with below required oxygen levels will be moved to the nearest Covid Care Centres as we do not want to wait till their results are out as the health of many in such cases deteriorate,” said the commissioner.
